BUMBLY : How It Works

Updated: Aug 9, 2019

BUMBLY is a synthesizer that makes sound by simulating the movements of the wings of insects. Bees, mosquitos, flies beat their wings to fly. These wingbeats produce airflow around them and make buzzing sound.

BUMBLY Expresses changes in air pressure due to wing movement with a single-cycle waveform. BUMBLY periodically reproduces this single-cycle waveform to create a sound. Then it modifies sound using pitch modulation of wings, pitch variation between two wings, wing size filter, room simulation and amplitude envelope.

You can draw your own single-cycle waveforms in BUMBLY. BUMBLY can make any sound you draw. This makes BUMBLY not limited to the sounds of insects. Various waveform presets are also ready for easy use.

BUMBLY provides customizable live performance UI.

You can play BUMBLY with fingers in your own settings.

BUMBLY also includes touch sequencer. Draw your notes with fingers and enjoy your song.

Please refer to the manuals for more details.

Thank you! Have fun!
